Midwest Book Review (Oregon, WI USA) -
To see into the soul is a gift that seems to be a curse. "Return the
Heart" tells the tale of Lilly Paige, a seventeen year old girl who can
peer into the hearts of those around her, something that has proven
more troublesome to her than useful. Seeking to learn more about her
talents, she finds that there are those who wish to use her and exploit
her to their own gains. "Return the Heart" is a riveting tale about the
soul and what it does to those around you.
The writing exhibited by T.K. Richardson in this book was
phenomenal.
The entire idea of this book was incredibly unique.
I would definitely recommend reading this brilliant debut for its
strong protagonist, entertaining side characters, great writing style,
unique idea that is like some, but is a world all its own, and for its
creative ties to Russian mythology. I will be eagerly awaiting Return
the Heart’s sequel, as this book left me wanting more, more, more!

Tales of a Teenage Book Lover
Return the Heart is a wonderfully written and original tale that's poignant and sweet, and packed with plenty of action that keeps the story rolling along. Despite an almost Bella-Edward relationship between Lilly and Seth, all the characters are unique and endearing; even the powerful Russian family known as the Kutuzovs are charming in their own way. Built around an ancient Russian prophecy, Return the Heart is a great read that leaves you hooked until the very end.
Return
the Heart is a wonderful debut novel. Penned by T.K. Richardson, this
novel explores the world of Lilly Paige, a girl with a unique gift -
the ability to read a person's heart and to see their true self.
I
loved Return the Heart. There was enough action in it to keep me
riveted, but what kept me turning pages was the character development.
Richardson does a great job of writing Lilly. She acts and talks like a
real teenager, but there is also this "old soul" quality to her because
of her gift and the things she has seen of people as a result of the
gift. I liked how Lilly developed from a self-reliant girl who saw her
gift as a curse into a resourceful young woman who used her gift to
help others.
I also liked how Richardson established the
relationships between Lilly and her friends. In any other book, I might
have found it unrealistic that Lilly gains instant friends and a guy
who likes her. But, in Return the Heart, because of the story's
premise, this was believable. It was nice to read about teenagers
bonding and selflessly using their special gifts to help others.
Return
the Heart made a big impression on me. It is well written, has great
character development and explores the rich culture of Russia. I hope
that T.K. Richardson writes more books with these characters. I am
anxious to see what further adventures they will get into and how their
gifts develop even more over time.

I loved this book! The
growing love story between Lilly and Seth was wonderful. I liked the
suspense surrounding the Russian prophecy that they were a part of. It
kept the pages turning quickly for me. I
did thoroughly enjoy this book and would recommend for ages 13 and up.
Four big smacks!!
...[Return the Heart] was a good story filled with adventure, intrigue and a dash of
romance, and I liked it a lot. The action was fast paced, the
characters easy to identify with, and there were some clever plot
twists. I particularly liked the way the author seamlessly worked in a
little Russian history and folklore.
Ms. Richardson co-opts the teen angst of no one understands,
and puts Lilly, the protagonist, into the Utopian situation of
discovering peers who not only “get” her, but are so in tune that they
don’t need to use words. Their parents exist, but are largely
incidental, the five friends enjoying the freedom and self direction
that teenagers only dream about. While combatting kidnappers, double
agents and Russian prophesies, the romance between Lilly and Seth
blossoms, as does her friendship with his sister, Claire.
I ended up with the feeling that the Fantastic Five will soon be
involved in another Russian adventure, with Lilly’s connections to the
past proving more complex than first thought. I hope so, anyway,
because I want to read it.

[Return the Heart] was action packed, but it also did a great job at balancing
character development. Lots of bad guy butt kicking and outsmarting
them at their own game. I was bouncing in my seat and trying to read
faster to see what would happen next. I did get confused sometimes on
which bad guys were which. There were a lot to keep up with. But as I
kept reading the scene, it would clear it all up. Another great aspect
was the Russian prophecy that plays a big role in the plot. Richardson
did a great job at withholding and revealing information at all the
right times. Every time I figured one thing out, there was another
that I was dying to know. That is the sign of a great story teller. I
was very happy with the ending, but still left craving more. I know
there is quite a bit more adventure (and romance) awaiting these
characters, and I can't to dive back in with them.
Well
from the cover of the book I was already drawn into this book. It makes
you want to know more about the setting of the novel. It was very
action packed and not like anything I have read before. It was
realistically told and just overall I fell in love with the characters.
The book kept you wondering what was going to happen next. I really
can't wait for the next book because this one was just fantastic.
